The interior of this 4-room apartment in the center of Kyiv was designed by the Martin Architects studio designers Igor Martin and Andriy Babych. The clients—a young couple—opted for an industrial loft style but wanted to infuse it with cozy elements of European provincial style. As a result, the cold concrete walls and ceilings typical of a classic loft acquired a warm "homely" feel thanks to the use of natural wood elements in the interior.
Working on this project, the designers breathed new life into a variety of objects. For example, old railroad lanterns were transformed into acoustic speakers, an easel became a TV stand, pipes turned into mounts for shelves and light sources.
A stylish copper sink in the guest bathroom was once an ordinary basin, and the vanity was the base of a Zinger sewing machine. One of the bedrooms is combined with a dressing room into a single space. Here, thanks to the unique bed design, a small workspace was organized.
And in the living room, a real full-fledged fireplace was installed. This became possible because the apartment is on the top floor, right under the roof. Next to the fireplace, there is a niche for firewood. The wooden logs, besides their direct function, also serve as an interesting decorative element. According to the clients' wishes, the designers created a separate "living" area for the four-legged family member. In the hallway, the dog got its own cozy house, which is part of the closet construction.
