Modern loft-style apartment design doesn't always mean a strict combination of brick, concrete, and rough metal elements that create an industrial atmosphere. Inch Apartments is the best example of how urban style can combine both elegant features and ruggedness, especially when smart space utilization is required.
Designing small apartments is not just about the necessity to expand and make the living space more open; these 48 square meters became both a limitation and a platform for experiments that allowed arranging all necessary autonomous and functional zones, such as a full-fledged hallway, kitchen, living room, and sleeping area.
To define logical boundaries between rooms in the open-space layout, we added sliding partitions. Now, at any moment, it's possible to create an intimate space for the bedroom and living room, separating them from the kitchen and dining table with a semi-transparent relief partition. The undeniable advantage of the space was the convenient placement of large windows that bring in plenty of natural light. In turn, minimalist light fixtures and an original lamp made up of many light bulbs will be suitable during dark hours. Instead of regular radiators that would only occupy space, a more compact vertical model was placed on one of the walls.
The color palette is also minimalist — white combined with blue, which is painted on the panels; one of them conceals the door to the bathroom. The most balanced addition to this palette turned out to be wood. Various elements made from this eco-friendly material became individual and unconventional solutions designed specifically for Inch. For example, wooden panels conceal from prying eyes a sleeping area with an unusual high and soft canopy made from different types of fabric.
